Synopsis:
Shihark has charisma. But it’s not just any form of charisma. His charisma is so powerful that he can seduce any man he wishes and instantly turn them into a bottom, and every man he meets ends up loving him for it. He becomes so powerful with this ability that he ends up founding the kingdom of Bottomore – a land full of bottoms that want nothing more than to serve Shihark any way he wishes to be served, with Shihark as the reigning king (and only top). As much as Shihark is loved, and as much love as he gives to any and every bottom that presents themself to him, he has never truly loved anyone.
And unfortunately, he dies doing what he enjoys best, spending intimate time with his harem of bottoms.
But then he wakes up. The world around him isn’t his beloved Bottomore, but Shihark is still Shihark, and he hasn’t lost his innate charisma. Immediately, he makes quick work of some men to figure out where he is and what he needs to survive. As it so happens, he is in modern-day Japan, and with his power intact, he is sure he will have no problem establishing himself. That is, until he walks into a convenience store, where he sees Nokuta for the first time. There is an intense attraction, one that Shihark has never experienced before.
Is this love? Shihark wants to find out, but for some reason, Nokuta is completely immune to Shihark’s seduction power. Can Shihark win any man over, even if it means relying on the old-fashioned way? Or is Nokuta forever the one who got away?
Review:
I was immediately taken by the cover art. There is something about the cover’s style that gives off more manhwa vibes than manga vibes, and I found that super intriguing. I would say that is still true in the actual panels themselves, which is a plus, but it is inconsistent and isn’t as pretty as the cover might suggest from every angle. I would even argue it gets worse over time, which is rare; usually, the opposite is true. Regardless, this is a unique one, art-wise, so if you’re looking for something fresh on that front, this is it.

But let’s get to what really matters: the story. I call many stories nonsense for one reason or another, but this one might very well be the epitome of nonsense. That is mostly intentional (and I’ll explain why it is mostly intentional here in a minute), as it is much more comedy-focused than I had realized. The first chapter, I’d argue, is actually very funny. There are panels of butts sticking out of bushes, showing just how beloved and wanted Shihark is as a top, and there are very funny meme-like reactions that are used, and they all got a chuckle from me. This kingdom of bottoms being built by the ultimate top is so ridiculous, and I love it. The first chapter does a really good job of getting the reader settled into the world, and I was very excited to see where it was all heading.
But then Shihark dies and is transported to the modern world, and it all falls apart. I actually really liked the fantasy world that we were presented with, and it was a huge disappointment to have to leave it so soon. I think this would’ve worked much better if we had stayed in that world and Shihark just happened to meet someone who was the antithesis of his super top, lover of all bottoms self, like a super straight anti-bottom that he ends up falling for and trying to lure into his harem. Instead, we end up in a modern world where Shihark has a subplot about needing to find a job, living with Nokuta in the meantime, and still having his tamer-of-all-men superpower, but without the interesting universe around it all. I didn’t care about Nokuta’s college courses, Shihark navigating the modern world, or meeting the people Nokuta knows there (all of the unintentional nonsense I mentioned before), and much of the humor was lost because the focus was on these modern-based subplots that I just didn’t care about. If we were going to have subplots around Nokuta, having them based in the fantasy world would’ve been more interesting, and the humor could’ve relied more on that funny fantasy worldbuilding that had already been set up for us. It was just a huge missed opportunity, and left me disappointed.
It is also worth noting that for a manga whose premise is based on a man who becomes the king of his own kingdom by bedding all the men and turning them into bottoms, there is little to no sex visible in this title. That might’ve been the biggest disappointment of all. When you put the words “carnal” and “****” in the title, I am expecting never-ending smut. But nope. Not here. We do see some naked butts, some after-coitus cuddling, and some softcore moments, but this is super tame in comparison to pretty much every other 18+ BL manga out there. So, for my degenerates out there, set your expectations near-zero. Otherwise, you will be very disappointed.

This was wildly disappointing. Nonsense isn’t always a bad thing, and the way this was setting up the fantasy world, I was ready for some really funny nonsense. But it takes the good nonsense, throws it away, and replaces it with half-baked, uninteresting modern-day issues that ruin all humor to be found. Add in a noticeable lack of smut, and this is just not good. This has some truly funny panels I want everyone to see, but it just isn’t worth the time or the money. I would skip this one.
