Synopsis:
Note: This review is based on the Backerkit version, which does contain an extended scene. This story also features characters from another story by the same creator. They are unrelated other than the main characters involved. For the sake of organization on this site, they would be considered part of a series as alternate-universe spin-offs of one another.
Rael is only here to help. He’s an elven wizard in a party of four, looking to hopefully join the local guild so they can reach their various goals. Rael doesn’t really have a goal. Having spent much of his life in seclusion, hidden away in a forest, he’s only here by chance. And now that he has fallen for the fighter Dav in their party, he really only cares about helping him.
They are on the cusp of being able to join the guild, and their next step forward is in each entering a dungeon and slaying their respective monsters. Everyone has a pretty easy time getting their task done, but Rael is still in the dungeon. As it turns out, his monster isn’t interested in fighting. Instead, it would love nothing more than to procreate, and if Rael accepts its brood, the monster will make sure the man Rael wants to help gets all the help he needs. But just carrying the brood isn’t enough. The brood requires feeding, and Dav has just what the brood craves.
Review:
As someone who doesn’t often read comics outside of manga or manhwa, it is nice to immerse myself in an art style that falls outside those standards. The style is very simplistic, and I wouldn’t say it is the most consistent in the world, particularly for Dav. Dav sometimes has a bit of a feminine quality to his face, which I like. I love it when a traditionally beefy man has more feminine qualities, but he doesn’t always maintain the same facial features from panel to panel, which is unfortunate. Rael, on the other hand, is very consistent and exactly my type. I really enjoyed it. Add in that it is completely uncensored, and this was such a smutty treat to the eyes.

One thing I really like, too, about this work is that it doesn’t shy away from the inherent body horror that comes along with tentacles. I’ve read a couple of works that feature tentacles, some that also include eggs, but many of them cute-ify it or avoid some of the more… icky parts of what has the potential to be truly monstrous smut. Rael has a nice, prominent belly, but not like a smooth pregnant belly, but a bumpy belly, so you can see all the tentacle eggs grow. Also, the birthing scene? Art. True art. It is very intimate, with Dav helping Rael through the process. It is very visceral, so it certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, but it is so good because of that.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention that Dav, our top, gets pounded by a tentacle, too. I love it when the line between top and bottom blurs and both parties get some backdoor fun. It is only one scene. Also, it is exclusively by the tentacle. So, if you’re hoping Rael gets to do some topping, and lots of it, that isn’t the case here, but it is still a fun time all the same. I’ll take a vers character no matter how they come (badum tss).
Now, where this falls short is in the narrative itself. I’m not going to pretend that the narrative is what really matters here because let’s face it: the selling point is the tentacle smut, and there is no doubt that it serves on that front. But the whole relationship and setup are predicated on a revenge plot. There is apparently a type of dragon that destroyed Dav’s village, and presumably the castle of another character. After the brood has been sufficiently fed, laid, and freed, Rael and Dav meet back up with the rest of their party members, and they discuss joining the guild to go after them… and then it ends. There does seem to be a suggestion on the website that it might be continued, but no promises. With that said, if you are hoping for a well-crafted narrative, this might not be your thing. The backstory for our main characters’ meeting is very cute, though, and I think that’s what matters most.

This was a pleasant surprise. I, admittedly, wasn’t looking for much here, but the emphasis on the body horror paired with all the tentacle smut created a delicious combination that I didn’t even realize I was looking for. It isn’t perfect by any means, but the strong points were very strong. This is essentially a spin-off featuring characters from another of this creator’s ongoing works, which I fully intend to check out. Not sure if it is as smutty, but I am looking forward to it all the same.
